Viral Marketing is best defined as

Marketing phenomenon that facilitates and encourages people to pass along a marketing message.

Recently this strategy has been adopted by a varied number of corporate brands in their TV and Print Ads.

Rather than promoting the Brand upfront, these firms have taken this concept offline and have started to promote various social causes - charities, providing education, promoting small scale businesses, financial assistance for various causes. Whether the people use these products or not, these social causes have been noticed by all concerned, i.e. consumers in this case and have helped in promoting these brands.

This is fast picking up across various market segments but for now it is limited to only those products used by all people on a daily basis (washing powder, face creams, soaps etc.)

Only time will say how the other sectors react to these fast becoming brand awareness campaigns. As long as something beneficial is happening, no one is complaining :)

ReviewMe - where you make money by writing reviews for cash has opened its doors today.

I have just signed up for an account to test drive it and so far it looks interesting.

Instead of searching for people to review my new product/website, this makes it more easy and hassle free.

Choose the category and the websites you want to review your product and send a request.

If you are a blogger, then the nice thing you dont have a format on how the review has to be.

Whatever and however you feel like writing, you can, as long as you finish it within the set time frame.

So far, it looks promising for both advertisers and active bloggers.

Advertisers can get the word out fast and bloggers get paid for what they do i.e. Blog :)

This by the way is an Advert for ReviewMe.

What you are waiting for, Check it out: ReviewMe

Rumours are that Microsoft is planning to offer scaled down versions of MS Office online.

Microsoft is planning free web-based versions of its word processing and spreadsheet programs.

The online versions of the programs will lack many of the features found in the full versions found in Microsoft’s Office suite of applications.

Although the programs will be free to use, Microsoft is planning to fund them via advertising.

Apple will pay rival technology firm Creative Technology $100m (£52m) in an out of court settlement which will end litigation over a patent dispute. The two companies traded lawsuits after Creative accused Apple of infringing its patents in its iPod music player.

Creative launched its own digital music players in 2000 but they have been largely eclipsed by Apple’s iPod.

Regulators launched a probe into the dispute, revolving around a navigation menu designed by Creative, in June.
